Abstract
851,230. Protective devices for dynamoelectric machines. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Aug. 30, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 27381/57. Class 35. A method of introducing a temperatureresponsive element 8 into the winding of an electrical apparatus shown as a motor comprises the steps of introducing into the winding during the winding operation thereof a withdrawable mandrel not shown preferably of metal and having an external diameter and length which correspond with those of the element 8, withdrawing the mandrel after the winding has been wound and impregnated, inserting the element 8 into the cavity left by the mandrel, and then securing the element to the winding. In the embodiment shown the mandrel is surrounded by an electrically insulating or an insulated metal sleeve 10 which remains in the winding, and silicone grease is coated on the mandrel to permit easy withdrawal of the latter and also fill the air gap 13 between the element 8 and also the sleeve 10. A packing ring 12 secures the element to the sleeve 10 which preferably is of mica foil combined with glass fabric.
