Abstract

633,125. Moulding electrical apparatus. SIGMUND, F., and HLAVIN, W. S. Feb. 9, 1946, No. 4098. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A metal sleeve disposed in the slot of a dynamoelectric machine has a slit for the introduction of the conductors subsequently bridged and sealed by insulating material as shown. Each slot is lined with a metal sleeve 17 coated with vitreous or other insulation 27, 28 and having its edges bonded in insulation 20. Each coil is then placed in position in the slots, the wound core is placed between moulds 32, 33, Fig. 2 and thermoplastic insulation is introduced through openings 37 in the injector tube 36 to fill the slot mouths as at 29 in Fig. 3 and form rings 30, 31 bonded to the ends of the sleeves 17 and to the insulation 14, 15 applied to the end conductors before the core was wound. Outlets 35 are provided in mould 33 just above the required surface of ring 31 for the escape of superfluous insulation and the thickness of ring 30 is determined by packing 34. The core may be heated by liquid in tube 39 and jacket 40. To facilitate the dissipation of heat the external insulation 27 on sleeve 17 may be omitted.
