Abstract
994,369. Securing coils for dynamo-electric machines. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Oct. 16, 1961, No. 37020/61. Heading H2A. The rotor end winding of a dynamo-electric machine is supported by circumferentially arranged glass fibres embedded in an insulating medium. In Fig. 2, the end winding 12, 13 is supported by windings 14 of glass fibre and by further fibres 17 secured between the windings and to a member 18. An insulating medium is either coated on the fibre before winding or applied to the surface before winding so that it is squeezed between the turns when the winding is applied. The medium is then hardened, preferably in a vacuum and foil may be temporarily applied over the medium to help exclude air. In Fig. 4 (not shown), a complete end cap is formed around an inner cap by the impregnated glass fibre, while in Fig. 3 (not shown), the impregnated fibre fills the space between the rotor end and an end disc, the filling being completed by an outer layer of insulating material.
