Abstract

987,686. Shelf structure. CHURCH & CO. (FITTINGS) Ltd. Jan. 29, 1962 [March 24, 1961], No. 10875/61. Division A4B. A cantilever free-standing structure for shelves and the like has spaced uprights C, each with one or more vertical series of slots 18 in its front face which are adjustably engaged by hooks 26 extending from the rear edges of the brackets carrying the shelves. Each upright comprises a channel section unit and a detachable strip 12 slotted at 18, and plates 19 attached to the sides at the bottom of the upright to form a supporting foot. Horizontal and sloping ties 20 and braces 21 strengthen the structure. Brackets have a leg 24 of flanged channel section secured between wedgeshaped plates 25 with hooks 26. Strips 27 and 28 may be provided to support respectively a pelmet board and canopy &c. The upper brackets may carry electric lights, and panels may be fitted between the uprights. Two forms of channel section for the uprights are disclosed, one being for thin metal brackets.
