Abstract

1,099,582. Cabinets; drawers. H. KRANTZ. Jan. 12, 1966. No. 1448/66. Heading A4B. A chest of drawers comprises a carcase formed by readily erected interfitting parts and foldable drawers. The carcase comprises two upper transverse bars (5) and drawer supporting rectangular frames (6) having dowels (9) engaging in holes (10) in rectangular side frames (7). The side members (6b) of the drawer supporting frames are L-sectioned to serve as runners. A top frame (7) is secured by screws to the bars (5) and to the tops of the side frames. Hardboard panels are attached to the top and side frames. The back is formed by a hardboard panel slid into vertical grooves in the side frames. A bottom panel having legs (14) is secured by screws to the bottoms of the side frames. The hardboard may be covered with a decorative flexible skin. Each drawer comprises a hardboard front wall 15 bonded to a cheek (15b) on a box like body made of cardboard having side walls 17 having fold-defining lines 19. The front wall 15 projects beyond the edges of the box like body. The drawer is maintained in non-folded condition by plastic channel strips (21) (Fig. 6, not shown) engaged over the upper edges of the side walls.
