[Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iii)] An article of furniture adapted for folding comprises vertical front, rear and end frames or sides hinged along the meeting edges so as to form a generally rectangular structure in service position, the front and one end member when the structure is folded, lying in one plane against the rear and the other end member which then occupy a parallel plane. The structure is locked in the unfolded condition by detachable top and base members. Shelves and drawers may be included. The sideboard shown comprises front and rear frames 17, 19, hinged at the vertical edges to end frames 10, 14 so that when folded the frames 10, 19 are in one plane and the frames 14, 17 are also in one plane and lie against the frames 10, 19. The frames are panelled. A partition 26 is hinged at 27 to the rear frame 19 so that it may be turned from a position within that frame to the transverse position. A top 24 and a base 23 are detachably fitted as by pins or dowels and have grooved members 29, 30 to receive the edges of the position 26. Door frames are hinged to the vertical members of the front frame 17. The frame 10 and partition 26 are provided with bearers 13 for drawers or shelves and a shelf 33 can be turned down from the position shown to rest upon bars 35, 36. Runners may be provided for shelves. Cupboards, bookcases, chests of drawers and wardrobes also are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the folding construction may be applied to tables and chairs, the seat in the case of chairs being detachable and the rear frame being continued upwards to form the back. In the case of tables the frames comprising the legs may comprise three-member frameworks not united at the extremities.
