Be it known that I. \VILLIAM REID, a citizen of the United States. residing at W enatchee, in the county of Chelan andState of Washington, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Tables of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to household furniture and more particularly to tables.

The object of the invention is to provide a combination kitchen table constructed for use in small rooms where space is a material factor.

Another object is to provide a table of this character equipped with folding seats slidable under the table when not in use and en tirely concealed by the table proper.

Another object is to provide a table of this character containing numerous drawers for various purposes and equipped with detachable leaves to provide additional table room or top surface when desired.

lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claim, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a table constructed in accordance with this invention with parts broken out and in section and with the foldable seats shown drawn out ready for use.

Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof.

Fig. 3 is an end elevation with the removable leaves positioned ready for use.

The table embodying this invention comprises a top 1 which may be of any desired size and shape being here shown rectangular and supported by a body 2 equipped with various drawers suitably mounted as hereinafter described. said body being supported on legs 3 of ordinary construction. This table which is designed for general utility, contains a plurality of drawers opening at the sides and ends thereof for containing dishes, silverware or any desired articles and Serial No. 464,614.

as shown five drawers are mounted in each side of the body 2 and include two smaller end drawers 4 arranged transversely of the table and two larger drawers 5 arranged between them with a centrally disposed large drawer 6 arranged below the drawers 5 and of less width than the combined drawers 5 so as to afford ample end space for the folda ble sliding seats 10 and 15 shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2.

Two end drawers 7 and 8 are arranged side by side in the same plane as the side drawers 4 and 5 and the seats 10 and 15 are designed to slide under these drawers 7 and S and the front portions thereof when in closed position represent a transversely disposed long drawer as is shown clearly in Fig. 3, the outer face of which is equipped with knobs l1 and 16 to more perfectly carry out the simulation.

The seats 10 and 15, one of which is arranged at each end of the table, are constructed exactly alike and hence one only will be described indetail.

The chair or seat 10 comprises a seat or bottom member 12 carried by a sliding bar l3 mounted in suitably disposed guides formed longitudinally at one side of the table body 2 under the drawers 6 thereof and said bottom 12 is equipped with hinged legs 14 aoa ated to support the seats when in open position as is shown clearly in Figs. 1, 2, and d. A hinged back 17 is carried by each seat portion and is adapted to fold inwardly flat against said portion when the seat is in collapsed inoperative position as is shown clearly in Fig. 6.

The seat bottom l2 is pivotally mounted as shown at 18 in the outer end of the sliding bar 13 to adapt it to be swung outwardly to permit the user to comfortably position himself between the seat and the table end.

From the above description it will be obvious that when these leaves 20 and :21 are not desired for use they may be disengaged from the table and placed in any suitable place of storage, and if desired they ma be mounted on a wall and operate as a wa l cabinet.

It will also be obvious that a table constructed as shown and described will present a neat and attractive appearance and while affording maximum article containing space will occupy a minimum spac in the room in which it is used thereby essentially adapting it for use in breakfast nook. and small housekeeping rooms.
