This invention relates to tables adapted to be extended from an article of furniture.

A further object consists of means adapted to pe rmitaccess to the interior of the furniture when the table is called into use. More specifically stated the table, legs are adapted for connection with the furniture legs to resemble unitary leg structures. With the above and other objects in view the invention further consists of the following'novel features and details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out-in the appended claims. In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of an arti-' cle of furniture with the invention applied.

Figure 2 is a similar view illustrating the extended position of the table.

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken through the article of furniture with the invention folded thereon.

Figure 4 is a similar view with the table extended.

Figure 5 is a detail sectional view taken through one corner of the furniture and illustrative of the connection between the legs of the furniture and table.

Figures 6 and 7 are detail views of the hinged connections for the table leaves.

Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates an article of furniture which may be in the form of a serving table, buffet or the like.

It has been extremely difficult for furniture dealers to supply the needs of 00011- pants of small apartments due to fact that the customary size of tablesfor dining room suites take up too much of the con fined area. Sometimes serving tables are used and at other times gate leg tables employed. The apartment when furnished in such manner does not appear complete due to the diminutive sizes of the articles of furnlture.

It is my intention, in this respect, to combine a table with the conventional form and size of buffet in order that the buffet may be ward corners of spaces.

readily apparent. The legs upon the forthe buffet are cut in half longitudinally thereof and the; severed halves being carried adjacent the outer corners ofthe leaves 12 and upon the undersides ,thereof. The leaf 12 is slightly wider than the leaf 11 to provide an, overhanging edge and to furthermore accommodate brace memtively connected withthe half legs carried .upon" the underside of theaforementioned leaf to strengthen the same.

When the table is extended foruse it may be necessary to have access to the silver drawer generally located in the upper portion of the buffet and to provide the utmost of convenience, A swingably panel 15 is provided withinthe top of the buffet immediately over the aforementioned drawer. As illustrated in Figures .1, 2 and i the half legs carried by the leaf 12 are shorter than the remaining portions of the legs carried by the buffet. This was necessary due to the fact that the thickness of the respective leaves when folded one upon the other would elevate the half legs an appreciable extent approximate .to that of the height of the shoulder portions 16 carried upon the remaining leg'portions of the buffet and upon which the extremities of .the half legs forthe leaves 12 are supported.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make suchchanges as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed is:

- 1. In a device of the character described comprising an article of furniture having a plurality of drawers, table leaves hingedly connected with the article, legs carried upon the forward portions of the article, said legs having portions removed, said removed portions being carried upon one of the leaves to support the table when extended for use, brace members carried by one'of the leaves and adapted for connection with said removed'portions, and shoulder portions carried upon the legs for the article of furniture adapted to support the extremities of the removed portions carried by the table leaf.

brace members carried by one of the leaves adapted for connection with said portions, shoulder portions carried upon the legs for the article of furniture adapted to support the extremities of the removed portions carried by the table leaf in order that the original design of the legs may be preserved, and means carried. by the article of furniture whereby access may be had to the drawers when the table is extended for use.

3. In a device of the character described comprising an article of furniture provided 7 and means carried by the table and removed portions adapted to permit access to the drawers when the table is extended for use. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
