Abstract

985,708. Refractory bricks. GENERAL REFRACTORIES CO. Jan. 25, 1963 [March 2, 1962], No. 3277/63. Heading E1B. [Also in Division F4] A brick used in the curved or flat walls of a metallurgical furnace or a rotary kiln lining is formed with its side faces each in two parts 55, 56<SP>1</SP> or 55<SP>1</SP>, 56, inclined to each other so that adjacent bricks interlock. As shown the parts 56, 56<SP>1</SP> are at right angles to the upper and lower faces 52, 53 of the bricks, or in embodiments all the parts are inclined to these faces and for use in a flat wall the parts are in parallel planes (Fig. 11). In a further embodiment the surfaces of the parts 55, 55<SP>1</SP> are faced with oxidizably steel plates which are secured by punched-in tags.
