Abstract

895,493. Furnace bricks. CANADIAN REFRACTORIES Ltd. March 23, 1960, No. 10296/60. Class 51 (2). A composite furnace brick comprises sections A, B, C lying longitudinally of the brick and extending at right angles to the intended hot face, each section having relatively small cross-sectional area and adjacent sections being composed of refractory materials in which the permanent expansion of one material is compensated by permanent contraction of an adjacent material. Examples of compensating materials include a section of chrome-magnesia refractory material adjacent a section of periclase refractory material, magnesia-chrome adjacent magnesia, and forsterite adjacent chrome-magnesia.
