Abstract
Tetrazene, ON.NH.NH.C(: NH).N: N.NH. NH.C(: NH).NH2 is prepared in granular form by reacting a water soluble nitrite and an aminoguanidine salt in an aqueous solution in the presence of a dispersing agent which disperses finely divided solids in an aqueous medium whereby granular tetrazene results. The dispersing agent may be an organic sulphonic acid, e.g. an alkyl-acyl sulphonic acid or a salt thereof. The nitrile may be sodium nitrile and the aminoguanidine salt is aminoguanidine sulphate.
