Abstract

Aminoguanidine bicarbonate is prepared by condensing a 3.5 to 4.5% by weight aqueous solution of free cyanamide with hydrazine acid sulphate at a pH of 7.2 to 7.3 maintained throughout the reaction time by means of a buffer such as boric acid, followed by precipitation of the required bicarbonate from the solution of aminoguanidine sulphate obtained, using, for example, sodium bicarbonate.
