Abstract

Sulphamoyl-anilines of the formula <FORM:0881862/IV (b)/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3 are hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical, R4 and R5 are hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical, an amino, nitro, etherified hydroxyl or sulphamoyl group or a halogen atom, e.g. 5-chloro-2 : 4-disulphamoyl aniline, are made by reacting the corresponding sulphohalide, e.g. 5-chloroaniline-2 : 4-di-sulphonyl chloride with ammonia or an amine R2R3NH (in the dry form or in an aqueous solution), in a liquid nitrated aromatic hydrocarbon such as nitrobenzene. Specifications 820,444 and 826,924 are referred to.
