Abstract

981,145. Strap tensioning tools. CARISTRAP INTERNATIONAL Ltd. April 9, 1963 [May 18, 1962], No. 14060/63. Heading F2G. A tool for tensioning flexible straps is formed of a single piece of bar stock and comprises two parallel strap engaging arms 10, 11, connected by an element 12 to arms 13, 14 parallel with the strap engaging arms 10, 11. The strap engaging arms are inserted in a folded strap as shown in Fig. 2 and the strap in the first modification is tightened by means of a user's foot pressing down on the bar 14. The centre lines 16 of the strap engaging arms 10, 11 are in the same plane as the centre lines 16 of the arms 13, 14. In a modification to be operated by hand rather than by foot, the connecting element joins the lower arms at substantially the transverse centre line of the device. The tool is described as for use with a buckle such that pulling on the strap between the buckle and the strap supply tightens the strap, and on release of the tensioning force the buckle holds the strap tight about the article.
