Abstract
975,092. Spinning spindles. B. PROSS. Feb. 20, 1961 [Feb. 24, 1960], No. 6084/61. Heading D1D. A spindle for a spinning machine, e.g. a ring spinning machine, has an anti-ballooning head (see Fig. 1) across the top of which is cut an horizontal channel 4 leading at either end to sloping channels 3 which extend to the peripheral surface of the spindle head, the yarn 6 being constrained to pass through said channels and wrap about the head 1 which preferably has at least one pair of flattened portions 2 on opposite sides. In Fig. 1a triangular wire guide 5 is mounted in the channel 4; in a further form a second channel 4 is cut at right angles to that shown and a second triangular guide is mounted therein. In another form similar to Fig. 1 the guide 5 is replaced by one which has an horizontal portion parallel to the channel 4. In Fig. 11 the head is conically formed at its upper end, the channel 4 extending to the bottom of the cone.
