Abstract
974,824. Cooling confectionery. CHOCOLADEFABRIKEN LINDT & SPRUNGLI A.G. March 6, 1962 [Sept. 23, 1961], No. 8681/62. Heading F4H. [Also in Division A2] Chocolate or chocolate coated confectionery is cooled by passage through a cooling chamber 12 between upper and lower dull black surfaces 10 and 4 respectively which are cooled by a gaseous cooling medium circulating in channels 11 and 5, there being no mechanically produced circulation in the cooling channel 12. The circulating gas, e.g. air, is cooled and dehumidified in suitable units (Figs. 1a and 1b not shown), and is admitted in regulable quantities to the cooling chamber 12 in order to pressurize the latter and prevent inleak of unconditioned air. The conditioned air is supplied to the centre of the chamber 11 and flows to each end thereof over the black surfaces 10 which are arranged in zig-zag configuration, the air being returned to the conditioning units via apertures 21, 22, and return conduits 23, 24. Part of the air in conduit 23 is supplied through a valve controlled aperture to the lower channel 5 to cool the lower black surface 4 and is also returned to conduit 24. The confectionery is passed through the chamber 12 on a conveyer belt 7 which slides on a support 6 of thermal radiation pervious material and may be pre-heated or pre-cooled before entering the channel 12.
