Abstract

1,009,562. Textile treating apparatus. FRANK W. EGAN & CO. Dec. 20,1963, No. 50333/63. Heading D1L. [Also in Division F4]. In apparatus for heat treating textile web with a heated gaseous fluid e.g. as in Specification 904,830, each fluid distributing tube is connected at one end by a stop member 4 to a supply header (not shown) with the other end 6 closed. Each tube may have either discharge openings J, Fig. 3, or an elongated slot (not shown) in the bottom 13 of the tube extending between the ends 3 and 6, and a baffle M formed by a rectangular tube within the distributing tube to form paths of varying lengths for the flow of fluid from the inlet end to the discharge openings or slot to maintain a uniform temperature of the issuing air on the web to be treated. The lengths of the paths of fluid flow is controlled by the situation of apertures 21a, b and c in the top, side and bottom walls, respectively, of the baffle M. A baffle insert of channel form to achieve the desired air flow path is described with reference to Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown).
