Abstract

1,152,222. Refrigerators. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 22 March, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 15580/67. Heading F4H A cooling tunnel for chocolates or chocolate coated articles has at its entry end a heat absorbing zone in which the articles are cooled without being subjected to a forced air circulation, a downstream zone in which air jets are directed downwardly on to the articles, an air impervious conveyer and means for providing an air cushion for supporting and cooling the conveyer. As shown, air is drawn through a filter 20 and cooling unit 21 in a housing 19 and supplied by a blower 22 to ducts 15, 17, below and above the conveyer belt 11 respectively, duct 15 having a wire mesh upper wall 16 and serving to provide the air cushion for the belt. Duct 17 has an apertured bottom wall, for directing jets of air downwardly on to the articles, except at the inlet end of the tunnel where its bottom wall is imperforate and has a blackened lower surface. Two spaced housings 19 are provided (Fig. 1, not shown), the conveyer is made of Terylene (Registered Trade Mark) impregnated with polyethylene, and duct 17 is made of fibreglass. Preferred temperatures are given.
