Abstract

973,386. Regulating fluid flow. LEE CO. May 3, 1963 [June 7, 1962], No. 17574/63. Heading G3H. A predetermined fluid resistance is provided by a removable fluid resistor plug 10 containing a pre-calibrated restrictor orifice 28. The plug 10 has a plurality of exterior circumferential grooves in the area 66 and is secured against a shoulder 58, within enlarged portion 56 of a bore 54, by inser tion of a hollow expander pin 14 having a tapered exterior surface 50 which engages the tapered area 37 to expand the cylindrical body 12 into fluid tight engagement with the bore 56 in the area 66. The plug 10 has stainless steel filters 40 and 44. The expander pin 14 and plug 10 are extracted upon threads 48 and 36 respectively. Orifice 28 lead-in passages 30 and 31 have included angles of 67 degrees to maintain a constant orifice length to diameter ratio. Specification 823,196 is referred to.
