Abstract
971,635. Crown cork closures. P. BINDSCHEDLER. Feb. 8, 1961 [Feb. 24, 1960; July 19, 1960], No. 4687/61. Heading B8T. The corrugations on the skirt of a crown cork stays short of the lower edge 3 which is upturned to form a rounded rim. The rim may be formed by a series of claws 4 and may be turned outwardly (Fig. 1) or inwardly (Fig. 5), and the closure may be formed from aluminium or tinplate. The claws 4 and cut-outs 6 are so dimensioned that, when the closure is applied, the edges of the claws touch, but without distorting.
