A door handle 1 is held, for rotation, in a plate such as a rose-plate 4 by a ring 5 of sheet steel or elastic synthetic material, the ring having a skirt 7 and a hole of a diameter smaller than that of the handle neck 3 and being pressed on to the neck so that its base is bent as shown and the end of the neck 3 is turned up. The skirt 7 and base may initially be perpendicular to one another, Fig. 4 (not shown) or the base may be bent-in, Fig. 5 (not shown), to a form similar to that shown in Fig. 6. The ring base may be corrugated or have radial folds or indents to accommodate non-cylindrical forms of handle neck 3.
