A shipping drum comprises a body 12 and at least one disc-shaped end 13, the drum body having a cylindrical portion 19 engaging a similar portion of the rim of the end 13 and merging into a flaring portion 21 engaging a similar portion 22 of the rim and the end 13 being secured to the body 12 by a fold seam 23 together with a weld seam 24. The drum may be of sheet steel.
