Abstract
930,124. Lights for small arms. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. April 3, 1962 [Jan. 5, 1961], No. 448/61. Class 119. A sight, e.g. a telescopic sight, is mounted on a small arm by means of a resilient sheet metal channel-shaped member 1, the flanges 3, 4 of which are formed with gripping jaws 14, 15 for engaging the body 23 of the small arm, the jaws being apertured to receive a screw 18 carrying a nut 20 for drawing the flanges 3, 4 together by resilient deformation, the material of the member 1 being weakened adjacent the function of the web 2 and one flange 4, so that movement is confined substantially to one flange 4 whilst the other flange 3 remains in fixed relationship with the web 2. The weakening may be effected by holes or slots 21 in the web 2 or flange 4 or the thickness of the metal may be reduced at the bend between the web and flange. As shown, for a telescopic sight, two spaced pairs of jaws 14, 15 and 16, 17 are provided. The telescopic sight 7, Fig. 1 (not shown), is secured above the web 2 by the means described in Specification 930,125.
