A wrench for unscrewing screw lids comprises a tapered piece of sheet metal or other material having a central aperture 11, the outer periphery of the piece being provided with a flange 12 extending at right-angles from the surface of the piece, the periphery of the recess being provided with a flange similar to the flange 12 but directed in the opposite direction and at least one inner side portion of each flange having corrugations or being otherwise roughened.
