Abstract

967,507. Transformers and inductors. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 19, 1962 [Oct. 19, 1961], No. 37556/61. Heading H1T. A magnetic core structure consists of a cylindrical part 2 (Fig. 1) closed at one end, the other end being closed by part 4, one or other of these parts having a central core member 3 projecting either to contact the other part or to leave a small air gap after assembly, and the cylindrical part 2 has at least one longitudinal slot 9 for conductor egress. Parts 2, 3 and 7 have axial holes (6 and 7) which align an assembly to carry a bolt for fixing to a base board. The structure may be of ferrite and acts as an electromagnetic screen as well as forming the magnetic circuit. The coil may be wound on a former 8, or directly on the member 3, or on an insulating sleeve on member 3, and the winding may be carried out with the part carrying core 3 or former 8 in situ in an apparatus as described in Specification 967,510.
