Abstract
Aluminium surfaces anodized by applying a potential through a solution containing sulphosalicylic acid and a metal sulphate or H2SO4, as described in the parent Specification, are sealed in a bath containing nickel acetate and a lignosulphonate, used in the ratio of 1:1 to 1:5 and at a total of 4 g. per litre. In examples a solution contains 0.5-1 g. per litre of nickel acetate and 1 g. of sodium or ammonium lignosulphonate, and is used at 185-212 DEG F. for 10 -30 minutes, at pH 4-6. A buffer such as boric acid is not required.
