Abstract
961,591. Cleaning eggs. G. T. CHURCH. April 9, 1962 [April 10, 1961], No. 12817/61. Heading A1M. In a method of cleaning eggs, the eggs are immersed in a liquid and air is passed upwardly through the liquid, which may comprise water at a temperature between 90‹F. and 100‹F. The eggs are placed in a wire basket 1 which is supported in a tank 5 containing the cleaning liquid and above a baffle 4 provided with fins 42 and holes 43, 44. An air pump is connected to pipe 61 and air from the jet 6 is dispersed by the baffle 4 and bubbles up through the liquid to clean the eggs. An immersion heater 7 is arranged at the base of the tank. A rotary air distributer may be attached to the jet 6 or the jet may be replaced by a tubular ring provided with airoutlets.
