Abstract
A trap for sediment is arranged in the upper line through which coolant flows from an I.C. engine to its radiator (Figs. II, V, not shown) and comprises a cup shaped perforate element 4, lined with an attached or removable filtering medium and urged to the bottom of the trap vessel by a spring (9) or 23. The cover 17 of the vessel is above the coolant liquid level 20 in the circuit, so that when the cover is removed the element can be withdrawn, using the spring as a handle, liquid draining through the element which retains the sediment. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates an alternative arrangement of inlet and outlet connections 14, 15.
