Abstract

Liquid system filtration apparatus having a liquid container with an opening above the liquid level and contng. the filter assembly which has a cylindrical filter chamber with inlet outlet includes: (a) a housing which has an upper opening, flush with the filter chamber opening which has its inlet below the liquid level in the container, while the opening is level with the container opening; (b) a filter assembly is supported in the housing having a cylindrical filter element with a lower open end level with the inlet and spaced from the housing wall which forms the filter chamber, so as to form annular outlet chamber connected to the outlet; and (c) a valve assembly in the housing combined with the filter assembly so that it can move from a fist position cutting off direct flow from the container to the annular chamber, to a second position at a pre-determined degree of fouling of the filter element, in which a direct flow from the container to the outlet chamber is established.
