Abstract

959,987. Conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Oct. 17, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1961], No. 37312/61. Heading B8A. The bottom of a storage bunker 11 for coal &c. comprises a belt 13 supported by rollers 12. The belt 13 passes over a return drum 16 and its ends are connected (so as to form a composite endless member) by a link chain 18 which passes round a return sprocket 21. The belt is maintained under tension by an hydraulic ram 25 acting on the sprocket 21. Further rams 23, 24 act respectively on the upper and lower runs of the chain 18 to drive the belt 13 to the right and to the left. In operation, coal is fed to the bunker from a delivery conveyer 29 when the belt 13 is in its extreme leftwards phase of travel. The belt 13 then moves progressively to the right to deliver the coal to a storage condition in the bunker. When the bunker is to be discharged the belt 13 is moved rightwards to feed the coal to a conveyer 30.
