880,609. Endless articulated plate conveyers. JOCHUMS, A., and WITTKOP, E. Nov. 28, 1958 [Nov. 29, 1957], No. 38446/58. Class 78 (1). Each trough plate 1 of an endless plate conveyer having a single central round link chain 2 is pivoted about a horizontal pin 8 to a link 3 of the chain at one end and at its other end has a pair of guide plates 14 having slots 15 within which are located bolts 19 secured to the adjacent end of the next trough plate 1<SP>1</SP>. The pin 8 is a push-fit in bores of a stirrup 6 welded to the plate 1 and a loose fit in a bore 5 in a lug 4 of chain link 3, to allow for travel around curves. Each guide plate 14 is secured by a pin 12 to a stirrup 10 welded to the plate 1. The slots 15 allow both horizontal and vertical play of the bolts 19 to allow for relative vertical movements of the plates and relative longitudinal movement when passing around the reversing wheels, the latter also allowing curves to be negotiated. Each bolt 19 is carried by a bracket 18 welded to the trough plate and has a hammer head 20 to prevent withdrawal in operation whilst allowing the guide plate 14 to be detached when pin 12 is removed and the plate 14 is swung down. The chain is guided around curves by stationary rollers (not shown).
