Abstract

An adhesive insoluble in cold water but soluble in hot is made from dextrinised potato starch containing undegraded but gelatinized starch.ALSO:Wet strength paper is produced by treating an absorbent cellulose paper with an acid or concentrated zinc chloride solution and mixing the resulting pulp with animal glue or casein and subsequently hardening the paper with formaldehyde. The wet strength may be improved by adding a water soluble synthetic resin such as polyethylene imine to the cellulose. Urea-formaldehyde condensation products can also be used for imparting wet strength to the paper, the final condensation being effected at 120-130 DEG C. and during subsequent storage.
