Abstract
956,567. Rotary motors. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. July 22, 1960 [Aug. 12, 1959], No. 25596/60. Heading F1F. [Also in Divisions B7 and G3] The hydraulic power motor 8 which rotates the attitude controlling apparatus on a marine vessel, e.g., a stabilizing fin 50, about its axis is located within the hollow fin shaft 54. The output shaft 76 of the motor 8 is joined to the inwardly projecting flange 81 of the shaft 54 by a spline and crossed ridge coupling 78, 79 and 80. The casing 67 of the motor 8 is joined to a housing 3 by an end cap 63 which is secured to. the plating 21 of the hull. Movement of the fin shaft 54 is limited by stops, 26 and 27 which are engaged by arm 28 positioned in accordance with movement of the shaft 54 by linkages 29, 30, 31. Contact with either of the stops 26 and 27 by the arm 28 slides the shaft 34 to stop further fluid flow to the motor. Specifications 820,431 and 829,821 are referred to.
