A universal joint in a worm-type pump has one element formed as a sleeve g within which the other elements of the joint are mounted and which sleeve is secured to a worm-shaped rotor b of the pump. As shown, a pin d pivotally carried by a driving shaft a engages bearing cups e screwed into the sleeve g. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a rubber element is bonded between a member fast with the driving shaft and a two-part metal drum which is frictionally secured to the sleeve. In both embodiments the sleeve g is screwed on to the rotor b and retained in position by a locking screw h. The joint is closed by a casing i.
