Abstract

1,249,751. Securing members on shafts. BURROUGHS CORP. 7 April, 1970 [21 April, 1969], No, 16355/70. Heading F2U. A member 15, such as the printing head of a cheque endorsing machine, is releasably secured on the end of a drive shaft 17 by resilient armlike locking members 45, 47 on the end of the shaft and with enlarged end portions 49, 51 engageable in a peripheral chamfer 55 at the end of the bore in member 15 and held in position by an axial plunger 63 movable between the ends 49, 51. The plunger is operable by lowering the cover 27 of the machine and if the ends 49, 51 are correctly positioned in chamfer 55 a switch 31 is closed to start a drive motor 19. If members 15, 17 are not properly positioned the arm ends 49, 51 are forced inwardly by the bore in member 15 and plunger 63 is unable to pass between them.
