Abstract

955,471. Valves; pipe couplings. L. SKIPWITH. May 16, 1960 [Feb. 14, 1959], No. 5206/59. Headings F2G and F2V. [Also in Division B2] A fluid control valve comprises a perforated plate 31 disposed in a passageway connecting an inlet 10 and outlet 9 of a valve body, and a resiliently deformable valve member 29 bearing on the plate and adapted to allow fluid to pass to the outlet when the member is deformed away from the plate by the inlet pressure so as to close vent ports 18 which communicate with the outlet. The vent ports are further closed by a teat-shaped valve portion 34 formed round a central aperture 32 of the valve member, this portion having slits 36 and seating on the outlet 9 in the deformed position. The device may be incorporated in a paint or chemical spraying apparatus, Fig. 1, wherein the body part 1 forms a hose connection which is rotatably mounted on the outlet 9 through a ring 44 which carries the ports 18. The hose end bears against a resilient sealing washer 11. Fluid is delivered through the device to a manually rotatable plug valve 7 and thence to a spray nozzle 4, the paint or chemical being thereby drawn through a connection 5 from a container which is closed by a cover 2. This cover carries the parts above described. A number of minor modifications of the valve device are disclosed.
