Abstract

892,599. Valves. SPECIALTY MFG. CO. Feb. 2, 1960, No. 3672/60. Class 135. A rotary spherical valve 12, turned by handle 19, 15 fitting a slot 18 on the sphere, sealed in the housing at 20 and having a stop 25 moving in a housing recess, moves over a rigid annular outlet seat 21 surrounded by a soft rubber-like sealing ring pressed by inlet pressure against the wall of valve chamber 11 and the seat, and having a lip engaging the valve. In alternative embodiments the outlet 10 is a swivel elbow carrying the seat and ring or the passage through valve 12 is angled to control an elbow passage.
