Abstract
954,598. Suction cleaners. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Jan. 30, 1962 [Feb. 4, 1961], No. 3401/62. Heading A4F. In a suction cleaner in which intake air is drawn through a duct separating filter by a fan driven by an electric motor, a temperature sensitive device associated with the motor is connected through a servo motor to a control member as a protection against over load. In the embodiment described, air enters the dust bag 35 from a hose (not shown) coupled to the cleaner by the connector 18, and passes through the bag 35, the two fan units 19 and past the motor 38, cooling them. After bag 35 becomes blocked the motors 38 overheat, and fluid in the chamber 21 expands, flows through the pipe 24 and expands the bellows 22. This depresses the stirrup 26 and rod 28, and opens the valve 30, thus letting air bypass the bag 35 to provide further cooling for the motor.
