Abstract

1,168,919. Vacuum cleaner. ELECTROLUX Ltd. 30 June, 1967 [22 July, 1966], No. 30335/67. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F1] A vacuum cleaner comprising an elongated casing 10, a dust collector, a motorfan unit, suction and exhaust openings in the casing for air conveyed through the vacuum cleaner by the motor-fan unit and transport members 15 for moving the cleaner such that the underside of the casing is at a given distance from a working surface is characterized in that the exhaust opening 16 and an air diffusing device 17 are located at the underside of the casing, the device 17 being arranged to receive air from the exhaust opening and discharge the air to the ambient air surrounding the cleaner. The diffusing device may be provided with a removable filter 22 which may comprise a frame 23 supporting filter material 24 and with foamed plastics strips 25 which provide a seal between the device 17 and the casing 10. The transport members 15 may consist of wheels or of runners in which case the device 17 may be integrally formed with the runners which are provided with outlet openings 18 through which the exhaust air pipes from the device 17 and through which the filter 22 can be removed. The diffusing device which has air deflecting guides (19) (Fig. 3, not shown) is provided with a removable covering member (27) (Fig. 4, not shown) through which a hose or pipe (28) may be attached to the outlet opening 16 by a bayonet type fitting.
