Abstract
1,052,421. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Sept. 25, 1962], No. 37173/63. Heading A4F. A suction cleaner comprises a box-like casing 10 in which an internal partition 60 defines a filter chamber 62 and a chamber 40 housing a motor-fan unit 41 which defines together with the partition a tool storage compartment 66. The movable lid 12 of the casing is adapted to seal against casing base portion 11 and the upper edge of the partition 60 is spaced from the lid so that air drawn through air inlet opening 34 in the lid passes through a paper filter bag 53 and over the partition to the inlet 45 of the motor-fan unit. The bag 53 is mounted on a supporting bracket 48. The cleaner can be moved on wheels 18 and 19, Fig. 2 (not shown), on the base 11. The wheels 19 project beyond the end wall of the base 11 to cooperate with a hook 32, which engages the rim 25 of the lid 12, to support the cleaner in a vertical position. A carrying handle 20, Fig. 2, is provided on the end wall of the base 11 adjacent the filter chamber. A further partition may be provided to divide the tool storage compartment from the motor-fan unit.
