Abstract

568,958. Dynamo-electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., HARVEY, F., and CURTIS, T. J. Sept. 22, 1943, No. 15537. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXVIII] A vacuum cleaner comprises a shaped upper casing part 1 and a base or chassis 2 a motorfan unit 4 being resiliently mounted in the casing, and a resilient, e.g. rubber, tube 26 connecting the outlet of the suction chamber of the fan unit with the casing outlet pipe 28 leading to the dust bag. The support for the motor-fan unit may comprise at the front end rubber ring 9 between the edge 5 of the suction aperture in the front wall of the fan casing and a flange 6 of an aperture in a wall 8 forming the rear of the suction nozzle, and at the rear end a rubber &c. ring 10 supported by a hinged strip 13 against a boss 12. The fan shaft may drive a brush mounted between bearing lugs 18 at the ends of a slotted plate detachably mounted by lugs 20 engaging holes in the chassis and spring clips 22 engaging headed studs in the casing. The fan belt driving the brush is accessible through an aperture in the front of the casing with a removable cover 29.
