Abstract

High efficiency fan filter unit has a fan inside an outer casing which is provided with prefilter inlet and a fine filter outlet with its downstream face located against a casing flange, the fan pulling in air via the inlet and delivering purified air via the filter. The intake side of the filter is covered by a receiving chamber to which the only entry is the delivery connection from the fan which draws in air from the casing resilient joints being fitted between the filter and the casing flange and between the filter and the chamber so that the pressure in the outer casing is less than atmospheric, which, in turn, is less than the pressure in the receiving chamber. Unfiltered air cannot escape from the fan filter unit since any leaks via the joints are drawn back into the fan suction.
