954,452. Jointing by stamping. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS' CABLES Ltd. March 12, 1963 [March 14, 1962], No. 9819/62. Heading B3Q. A crimping tool for crimping the rim of a side wall of a sealing pot 5, fitted over the end of an electric cable 6 and filled with sealing compound, to a closure member fitted to the open end of the pot and through which the ends of the conductors protrude, comprises a pair of axially aligned yokes 1, 2 connected by limbs 3 to form a hollow frame, the yoke 2 having a screwed bore to receive a tubular screw 9 and the yoke 1 having a stepped recess for receiving and supporting the pot 5 and a centrally apertured plate 11 slidably engageable along the limbs on the leading face of which are fitted a number of crimping teeth 13 which by screwing up the screw 9 are forced into engagement with the rim to effect the crimping thereof to the closure member. The yokes and limbs are of brass, the screw of manganese-molybdenum or nickel chrome steel and the plate, of hardened steel strip. The pointed teeth have two inclined flat sides 14 and a third of a conical form 15 and are preferably riveted to the plate 11 with the corners formed by the two flat sides positioned nearest to the axis of the plate.
