Abstract

976,278. Semi-conductor rectifier assemblies. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 19, 1963 [July 21, 1962], No. 28620/63. Heading H1K. Each rectifier element 3 is accommodated at the closed end of a recess 4 in a solid metal member 1 and has one face in electrical contact with the metal at the end of the recess, the rectifier element 3 being insulated from the walls of its recess 4 by an insulating member, such as a tube 5, which projects out of the recess so as to act as a spacer between its metal member 1 and an adjacent metal member 6 or an end plate of the assembly; the insulating member 5 also acts as a guide for the contactmaking means, which may comprise a spring 7 and a graphite disc 8, applied to the other face of the rectifier element 3. Each metal member 1 has two or more recesses containing insulating members 5 to act as spacers, even if not all the recesses contain rectifier elements, and the assembly is held together by a bolt or plastic rivet passing through a central bore 2.
