Abstract

1,175,258. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 17 Nov., 1967 [17 Dec., 1966], No.52408/67. Heading H2E. An insulating casing which surrounds a contact-carrying insulating block 9, Fig. 3, comprises parts 1, 18, 19, the parts 18, 19 together defining an inclined apertured surface 22 to which either a prism-shaped cover 4 or a flat cover-plate 5, Fig. 2, is secured. The plate 5 and surfaces 6, 7 of the cover 4 have outlets such as 31, Fig. 3, for a supply cable, so that the cable can be led out either parallel, perpendicular or at 45 degrees to the connector axis (Figs. 4 and 6, not shown). Each aperture 31 includes a cable grip comprising channelshaped members 32, one of which is adjustable by screws 33 and a pressure plate 34. The casing parts 1, 18, 19, the cover 4 or 5 and the block 9 are held together by screws which engage apertures 11, 16 and 27<SP>1</SP>, and jack screws, for securing the connector to a cooperating connector, extend through apertures 21.
