Abstract

950,400. Aircraft. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS (AIRCRAFT) Ltd. Nov. 3, 1959 [Oct. 30, 1958], No. 34910/58. Headings B7G and B7W. In an aeroplane as claimed in Claim 1 of Specification 832,760, the wings are connected to the body by universal pivots and means are provided for imparting to the wings, during movement in sweep, a controlled rotary adjustment about their spanwise axes, the extent of such adjustment being determined by the desired correction of the longitudinal dihedral angle. As shown, universal pivot C connects wing B with body A. Wing spar D is bifurcated to form divergent limbs E, F, the ends of which move along tracks G, H shaped so as to rotate the wing B about its axis on sweep movement. Specification 861,230 also is referred to.
