Abstract
962,430. Convertible aircraft. AEROCONSULTOR A.G. Oct. 27, 1960 [Oct. 28, 1959; July 27, 1960], No. 36876/60. Headings B7G and B7W. A fixed wing aircraft has a fixed driving unit 5 connected by gearing and shafts 4, 6 to propeller units 7a, 7b, 7c which are tiltable about points x; the points x form a triangle which, for normal flight attitudes, lies in a plane above the centre of gravity s of the aircraft, an upwardly extending plumb line y through s intersecting this plane within the triangle. In hovering flight the attitude of the aircraft is controlled by varying the thrust or angle of inclination of the propeller units. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the propeller unit 7a is positioned forward of the leading edge of the wings for such a distance that the downflow of air does not impinge on the wings.
