Abstract

861,230. Aircraft. VICKERS AIRCRAFT HOLDINGS Ltd. May 18, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 16251/55. Class 4. The wings 11, 12 of an aircraft are pivotally connected to the body 10 and the inboard end of the spar of each wing is bifurcated to form limbs 141, 151. lying substantially in the plane of sweep. The aircraft is similar to that described in Specification 832,760 and the wings are carried by bearings 16, described in Specification 860,823. The spar comprises two I- section beams, side-by-side in the wing, having their inboard ends, the limbs 141, 151, connected by a chordal member 17 furnished with a toothed segment meshing with a motordriven worm.
