Abstract

602,911. Aircraft wing structures. REID, W. T. Dec. 3, 1945, No. 32594. [Class 4] The framing between the upper and lower skins of a wing comprises channel-shaped members A, B, and C, of inverted U-form and extended span-wise of the wing to provide arch-shaped spaces to which access for storage &c. is had through apertures in the lower skin. The main member B has its curved top connected to the upper skin and the lower edges of its sides to the lower skin. End members A and D have curved edges secured to the nose 18 and the top skin respectively. Distance pieces such as 25 are employed between the lower wall-ends.
