Abstract
944,806. Centrifugal separators. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. July 14, 1960, No. 24615/60. Heading B2P. [Also in Division Fl] A steam turbine has means to separate water from the steam comprising a plurality of separate cyclones assembled in annular formation and arranged adjacent the turbine nozzle ring in the steam flow path between the steam intake and the inlet side of the nozzles. A number of single cyclones 16, Figs. 1 and 3, are arranged in a ring 14 concentric with the turbine nozzle ring 14. The steam enters the inlet chamber through the port 11<SP>1</SP> and is then led to the lateral apertures 20 of the cyclones. The centrifuged water particles pass as shown at 19 to a collecting chamber 17, which is connected to a drain 25. In a modification the cyclone ring 14 is mounted in a turbine having a central intake. The cyclone ring may be mounted on the periphery of the outer casing.
